Met at TJ Elementary School around 1100 and car pooled to Camp Stigwandish at noon. Set up at Camp Johnny Apple Seed by 1330 and headed over to the pond to work on our fishing belt loop. Sean had the first fish on hook and in hand, a nice small bluegill. Blaise was the first to catch a bass. Eric caught the largest bass, with Ben being the top fisherman having caught 10 fish today. Ben caught seven bluegill and 3 bass. Everyone had a good time, and every Scout did catch a fish today. We arrived back at our camp site around 1600 to work on the map and compass belt loop requirements. Our Scouts know the way from their home to school as they had to draw a simple map. Then Dale worked with them on compass skills. Dinner was hamburgers and hotdogs with chips and beans. Camp was quiet all of 10 minutes while the scouts ate. What a peaceful 10 minutes. Rain finally passed on through around 1930. We were able to start our fire at 2000 and passed out glow rings. Devon and Dale attempted to start the fire with flint and starter and drier lint, but after several tries we opted to use a lighter. Then sent all scouts out to find a stick taller than them to roast marshmallows for s'mores. Around 2230 everyone made it back to their tents to retire for the night. Cubmaster Nebe and Mr. Lombardo stayed behind with the campfire.
I was woken up at 0630 by the voices coming from the tent to the right of me. Dylan, Nick and Ben were in this tent and this is the first time Nick has been up before 1000 all summer. The tent buddies were happily chattering away at daybreak. Cubmaster Nebe had the fire going early to burn the rest of the wood. Once the fire was ready we heated up pots of water for our breakfast of eggs in a bag. For those who do not want eggs we had cereal and milk. There was a little chill in the air this morning so a few of us were wearing sweat jackets and pants. Best bedhead goes to Blaise. By 0830 all scouts had food in their bellies and adults had their eggs in water. Adults took a little longer to cook because we had three eggs, ham and cheese. At 0930 we started taking tents down and packing up. By 1030 the campmaster gave us the thumbs up to leave.
